Sewing 101

Since being home with Leo I have become inspired to be more creative. I started knitting again, and managed to finish a project (a christmas stocking that i completed a few weeks ago)-- at least it is ready for next year! And now I have been wondering what kind of clothes i might be able to make for Leo.

So, last Wednesday I took a 2.5 hour sewing class. It was awesome. I was reacquainted with all things sewing machine- back stitiching, bobbin winding, presser foot. All of which i had forgotten since my mom taught me when i was a teenager. In fact, it made me realize what a great job my mom did teaching me because everything clicked. Then, it made me wonder what kind of student i was with her. Hmmm.

Now, I am on the lookout for a good cheap machine. Nothing fancy, just solid and basic. There are some sew and vac shops in town that sell used ones and provide a warranty, as well as showing you how to maintain your new machine. Think this might be a way better option than craigslist.
Here are two other pics from last week--In the first you can see where Steve ripped out the rest of the hallway and bedroom carpeting (more on this in another post) and that's my cute little napkin project from my sewing class....

See you soon!

A Good Nap Day

Yesterday Leo feel asleep while reading; today the same thing! Much better, i think, than me trying so hard.

Warm Inside

Its a cold snowy day here. The predicted high today is 2 degrees. yikes. The entire school district is closed, which seems a little crazy. i mean this is Colorado, northern Colorado. This is not the first time its been below zero--not even the first time this winter!

Leo is closing in on eighteen months and is becoming more of a toddler everyday. His vocabularly has increased, but he still likes to demand certain things in his own language. Some of his new words include owl, Alma (his cousin), "out there", water, buckle, open, and "all done".

Yesterday I had a very funny time getting him down for a nap. I had fed him some homemade juice (i rarely ever give him juice) but thought because I had juiced the apples, kiwi and beet myself that it'd be good to get him a quick shot of vitamins. But oh no, i went a little overboard because the 10 or so teaspoons of juice i fed him (feeding him juice like its soup seemed like the way to go) made for an epic nap time. It took me 1.5 hrs to get him down. We read stories, we cuddled, he played peek-a-boo with himself in the mirror, i layed down in bed while he did this crazy routine of yelling some indecipherable words then shaking his head from side to side REALLY fast, then flinging himself backwards onto the bed--over and over and over again. It was a riot and he probably kept going because i was laughing so hard.....

Just another Leo day.
